NB: OK, OK, OK, Freud would have a lot to say about my extensive misremembering of the final scene in Stalker. A few standout corrections: (1.) Monkey (the Stalker’s daughter) obviously has hands, (2.) the train whistle is audible right at the start of the scene, (3.) the music doesn’t arrive until after the train’s effects on the glasses have become obvious, and (4.) the music is neither instrumental nor is it the State Anthem of the USSR; it’s Ode to Joy! Still, pretty fucking incredible scene!
Also, some sources propose BAS-re-LEEF and others insist upon BAH-re-LEE-eff, so fuck if I know.
